Last night, the Golden State Warriors won one of the most crucial games in their history and ensured that their dynasty survived for atleast another game. However, in the process, they also suffered one of their biggest losses as Kevin Durant, one of the greatest players to ever play for the team, suffered a devastating injury to his right Achilles tendon. He has reportedly flown to New York to get his injury evaluated but the Warriors are fearing the worst.
A really nasty incident associated with the injury was the classless behaviour of a few Toronto Raptors fans who started cheering the injury. Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson looked to the crowd and asked them to ‘shut the f**k up’. Eventually, Raptors players such as Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka and Danny Green had to jump in and ask the crowd to stop cheering the injury. It was uncharacteristically rude behaviour by the people of a country known for its politeness.
One anonymous Canadian fan decided to make amends for that and apologize to Kevin Durant and the Warriors by sending a bouquet of flowers, apologizing on the ‘behalf of Canada’ and wishing KD a speedy recovery. The card accompanying the bouquet read, via NBC sports: “Dear KD and the Warriors: I can’t even believe those dumbass Raptors fans cheered when they saw you were injured. I was watching the game and felt horrible. It was a total disgrace. I hereby apologize on behalf of Canada. Prayers for recovery.“
