In a recent WhatsApp update on iOS, users came across an important new feature, which will let users request their Account information from the messaging app; in addition to this user can easily track which data has been kept secret and what has been shared. WhatsApp had announced this feature in GDPR which puts more control over user’s hands and thus demands greater data privacy of consumers.
WhatsApp version 2.18.60 is now readily available on iOS, having ‘Request Account Info’ feature which allows users to download their data anytime. As per the sources of WABeta Info, who spotted this new feature recently, users can just go to settings and see the option for ‘Request Account Info’ in the Account option. Also, the app offers the best User experience and will now inform the user whenever they are adding a business to group chats.
This update has brought improvements in video calls and ease in payments feature across users of India. In order to check their Account info, users can go to Settings>Account> Request Account Info>Request Report. The report will be mostly ready in three days by May 25. The report can be accessed via another device and can be transferred over OTA, Bluetooth as well, keeping WhatsApp account information as well as Settings. Users should not much worry as this report does not include a user’s messages, as these are end-to-end encrypted and not stored by WhatsApp on its servers. If a user makes changes to their account like changing their number or deleting the account, then the report request will be canceled.
Users will have a few weeks to download this report. There have been improvements to the backup feature where users can now encrypt their account data before backing it up to the iCloud, though we could see an option for this on the app just yet.
